AoE3 is an RTS set in the colonial era of the 16th-19th century, where players choose a civilization, gather resources, organize an army, and fight other civilizations.
Players can win by collecting resources with farmers, building with the collected resources, producing soldiers, and breaking their opponent’s hearts by destroying the center of their town or otherwise forcing them to abandon the game.
The main focus is on 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, etc., but until you get used to it, it is a good idea to advance through AI battles, Sun Tzu’s Art of War, Story Mode, etc. to get used to the controls.
